Westridge Pet Hospital & Wellness Center About Our Doctors
Michelle Bammel
Dr. Michelle Bammel is a native Texan and has lived in the San Antonio area since graduation from vet school in 2001.  Dr. Bammel did her undergraduate studies at Baylor University and graduated cum laude from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001.

Dr. Bammel is a firm believer in the power of knowledge and continuing education, and has a special interest in the integration of Western and alternative therapies to achieve maximum pet health.  She is an IVAS certified veterinary acupuncturist and a University of Tennessee trained Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP).  Additionally, she is currently completing a course in Chinese herbal medicine as a complement to Western therapies.  Dr. Bammel also believes in the power of prevention, and she strives to educate her clients on the value of prevention as the best means of eliminating illness and disease.

When not hard at work in her practice, Dr. Bammel enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and RVing with their 2000 Airstream.  She has several four-legged family members as well - Jetta (who is often seen roaming the hospital), Rosie, and Joey. She also has two guinea pigs and chickens.

Teresa Fransik
Dr. Teresa Fransik graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986.  She moved back to her hometown of DeSoto, Texas and successfully started her own practice.  The facility also housed one of the largest boarding & training facilities in Dallas County where she was actively involved in breeding and training Labrador Retrievers.  Her desire to raise her son in a more close-knit community led her to sell her practice and find Fredericksburg, where she still lives.

Although many say that dogs and cats are “man’s best friend”, Dr. Fransik believes that we are their best friend.  It is her belief that she should strive for the health and wellness for her “children” and be the best friend and pet parent that she can be.  Her mission is to help all of her clients understand this valuable role and relationship as well.  Health, wellness, and prevention of disease are paramount in keeping your pet around as long as possible.  She was excited when she found Westridge Pet Hospital that shared her wellness philosophy.  In 2015, Dr. Fransik took it even farther and enrolled in Parker University’s Animal Chiropractic Program and received her certification in animal chiropractic through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association.  This approach to health care is the perfect companion tool to allow for wellness and flexibility, as well as a drug-free alternative to manage pain associated with the spinal column.

When not working, Dr. Fransik strives for a healthy lifestyle.  She loves to cook and enjoys walking with her best friend, a Border Collie named Nikki.  On the weekends, she loves to hike with her husband, David.  She also has a Bichon mix named Charles, two cats (Nike & Simon), and a 19 yr old African Grey parrot named Amigo. She attends Oak Hills Church in San Antonio.

Jessica Sovereign
Dr. Jessica Sovereign joined the team at Westridge in August 2015. She fulfilled her life-long dream of becoming a veterinarian after completing her Bachelor of Animal Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma. She carries a bright orange stethoscope in recognition of her alma mater.

Dr. Sovereign moved to the San Antonio area in 2013 and has been working as a general practitioner since that time. Her interests include preventive care, pain management, and allergy management.

As a strong believer in life-long learning, she continues to further her knowledge regarding the physiological basis of veterinary medicine as well as cutting edge technologies and philosophies.  In addition to the incorporation of technology into traditional methods, she plans on pursuing acupuncture, herbal medicine and chiropractic training in order to offer more modalities to her patients.  With her professional attitude, dedication, positive presence, compassion, and excellent communication skills, she works hand-in-hand with the entire Westridge team in the pursuit of providing those in her care with overall health and well-being.

Dr. Sovereign has a dog named Bindi and a boy cat named Sue whom she dotes on as often as possible. She is originally from Ada, Oklahoma.

She enjoys volunteering at Saddle Light Equestrian Center for Therapeutic Riding assisting in horse husbandry. She is having a great time settling into the city of San Antonio, becoming a Spurs fan, and building a family of friends in the area.
