American Veterinary Dental College.  A helpful website that explains the importance of oral health, common dental diseases, and treatment recommendations for optimal oral health.

American Association of Feline Practitioners.  This association makes recommendations for standards of practice in veterinary care for cats. 

A list of breeds and the congenital diseases that they are predisposed to developing.

Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center.  The main homepage for our local referral center.  This entity includes South Texas Veterinary Specialists (surgeons), Veterinary Imaging Center (radiology including MRI and ultrasound), South Texas Veterinary Ophthalmology (eye doctors), and others.

Lara’s Canine Solutions main website.  Lara offers in-kennel training, private lessons, classes, and consultations with prospective dog owners to help them get started on the right track with the breed or pet you are considering.

San Antonio Animal Care Services.  Provides pet adoption, city licenses, and animal control.

Animal Defense League.  A no-kill, non-profit animal shelter in San Antonio

This website was put together by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association for pet owners. The articles were all written by accredited Texas veterinarians.

Dodger's List.  An excellent resource for care tips for patients with intervertebral disc disease or other injuries that may require crate rest, bladder expression, or other special needs.

American Heartworm Society. An excellent resource for up to date information on Heartworm prevention, Heartworm disease, and treatment guidelines.

The Indoor Pet Initiative. This website is supported by The Ohio State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. It uses the most up-to-date science to educate both veterinarians and pet owners, with a specific focus on creating an optimal environment for your pet to thrive.

Pets & Parasites. Looking for information on parasites such as hookworms, coccidia, heartworms or anything else your cat or dog might acquire? The Companion Animal Parasite Council has you covered.

Winn Feline Foundation. The Winn Feline Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports research into improving the lives of cats. It has a wealth of information on cat health on its site, some of which is based on research its grants have supported.

Partners in Animal Health. Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine has an outstanding site with information for pet owners as well as veterinarians. Special topics include caring for diabetic cats, a pet owner's guide to cancer, and managing destructive scratching behavior in cats.

ASPCA Pet Care. The ASPCA Pet Care section has direct links to the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, a Pet Loss Center, Pet Food Recall news teed and many more resources. It's good information from an organization out to do good in the world.

American Association of Feline Practitioners. Wrth videos, articles and a search engine to find feline-friendly vets (although I know there are lots of great vets who don't show up on the list), this site is worth your time.

Worms & Germs. This University of Guelph blog is put together by Ors. Scott Weese and Maureen Anderson of the Ontario Veterinary College's Centre for Public Health and Zoonoses. It focuses on infectious diseases in pets, with a large emphasis on zoonotic diseases (diseases that can be passed to humans from other species).

Dr. Sophia Yin. Dr. Yin is a veterinarian, author, animal behaviorist and international expert on low-stress animal handling. Her blog covers a range of topics, and I am a fan of her work on reducing patient stress in veterinary clinics.

The official website for the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association.  This website offers general information regarding the association and it also offers a search engine to find a holistic veterinarian in your area.

This is one of Jean Dodds’ websites that covers many different topics including vaccine titers, species specific Thyroid Testing, nutrition, and more.
